Improvements & Challenges

During the production process, I made a key creative decision to change part of the narrative structure to better fit the emotional tone of the film. Originally, the male character was going to walk past an ice cream shop and experience a flashback. However, I decided to replace this with a more symbolic and engaging sequence where he goes on a run. This moment is presented as being largely internal, reflecting his thoughts and emotions rather than just showing a literal memory.

This change allowed me to develop a stronger use of non-linear storytelling and internal reflection, which better suits the romance genre. Instead of relying on a simple flashback, the running sequence acts as a form of psychological representation, showing the character processing the breakup in real time. The moment where he realizes something and sprints back adds a sense of urgency and emotional climax, making the narrative more dynamic and impactful for the audience.

Throughout filming, I faced several challenges. One major issue was maintaining continuity editing, especially when filming scenes on different days. Lighting, timing, and actor positioning needed to remain consistent to avoid disrupting the realism of the film. To overcome this, we carefully reviewed previous clips and matched our shots as closely as possible.

Another challenge was capturing smooth and effective shots during movement, particularly in the running sequence. This required multiple takes and adjustments to camera angles to ensure the visuals remained stable and clear. We focused on improving our use of camera movement and framing to make the scene feel natural rather than distracting.

Additionally, coordinating schedules and ensuring all necessary footage was captured on time was difficult. We addressed this by planning ahead and organizing our shooting schedule more efficiently, which helped us stay on track.

Overall, these challenges helped improve both the technical and creative aspects of the film. By adapting the storyline and overcoming production difficulties, I was able to create a more emotionally engaging and visually effective final product.
